Portland, Ore., (April 25, 2011) — Monday, April 25 is World Malaria Day, an occasion instituted by the World Health Assembly to raise awareness about the deadly, mosquito-borne disease. Portland State University, Klarquist Sparkman LLP and DesignMedix, Inc. are sponsoring a seminar to highlight efforts to cure and prevent this challenging disease, which infects more than 250 million people per year and kills almost one million.

May 11, 2011 DesignMedix, Inc. Chief Scientific Officer Receives 5th Annual Outstanding Chemistry Researcher Award.
DesignMedix Chief Scientific Officer, David Peyton, is this year’s recipient of the Annual Outstanding Chemistry Researcher Award, presented annually by the Columbia-Willamette Chapter of Sigma Xi.
Peyton was nominated by his department and selected by a panel of judges based on publications, external funding, presentations at meetings and mentorship to graduate students. The award recognizes his excellent record of research and will be presented at the Sigma Xi’s annual awards dinner on May 17th, 2011.
September 1, 2011 DesignMedix receives third STTR grant from National Institutes of Health.
In a very competitive environment for funding, DesignMedix has been awarded a Small Business Technology Transfer grant for its lead RCQ malaria drug development program. The funds from the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease at the NIH will support preclinical development of the lead drug candidate, driving the project forward to the clinic. Portland State University will be an active collaborator in the project.
